2015 College Football Conference and Division Odds

In 2014 I took TCU 630/1 to win the National Championship.  That is not a misprint. My bet was completely about returning starters, and a perfect schedule that only had them leaving the state of Texas a few times.  I knew @ West Virginia would be the “hedge” game.  Sadly, I lost that Mountaineers hedge and the TCU 630:1 was jumped by Ohio State in the final College Football Playoff rankings.  This confirms my belief that...

Updated Golden Nugget Game of the Year Lines

I posted the Golden Nugget game of the year opening lines earlier this morning. Since that time I found an updated version at Betting Moves and there has been some significant line movement.  As a Pac 12 aficionado the opening line that really jumped out at me as a  was Colorado -1.5 vs Colorado State. That one has since been bet up to -5. Here are the updated lines and betting moves.  DATE TEAMS NEUTRAL LOCATION OPEN...

Handicapping the 2015 National Championship Future...

I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to National Championship futures, there hasn’t been much money to be made in the last 10 years or so. The big upsets just haven’t been there because of the way the old BCS system worked. The biggest long shot of the past 10 years was probably Auburn. But if you were paying attention to a certain trend, maybe they weren’t really that big of a long shot...

Heading to the Golden Nugget with these GOY lines ...

I’m heading to the Golden Nugget for College Football openers on June 26th.  With travel plans locked in, I wanted to make sure I had a stance on every single College Football game for the year.  When Game of the Year numbers are released, its important to realize what the psyche of a team is in the middle of October/November.  Are they off a road stretch?  Did they just face their rivalry?  Are they off a Bye Week? When...

ACC QB Breakdown: How This Affects Betting in 2015

The ACC is loaded with quarterback potential this season, as the conference welcomes back 10 starters from last year. Despite losing Jameis Winston, some may be underestimating how good this ACC crop could be. So how exactly will this affect how you bet on ACC teams this year? Let’s take a look at some factors to consider this fall from a handicapping perspective. Experience Like I stated earlier, the ACC returns 10...

SEC QB Watch: How This Affects Betting in 2015

The quarterback situation in the SEC isn’t very intimidating at first glance. With very little star power at the position, the thinking is that the country’s most powerful conference will take a step back at the position that matters most. How will that affect betting this season? Will these offenses take a big hit because of the drop-off at quarterback? These are questions that I considered while doing research on the...

Jimmyshivers ACC Bowl Game Selections

YTD:  26-13 +10.79 units   Last time out we fell victim to a Georgia Tech backdoor to prevent the 2-0 sweep in the ACC title game.  Overall there is little to complain about as our plays were very good this year and we managed to win at a 66% clip on the season.,   It would be wonderful to replicate this success for bowl season but as always I would be very happy to walk away with more units won than lost.  I hope...

Bowl Game Facts

With bowl season officially beginning tomorrow, I wanted to share some data I found with regard to bowl games over the past several seasons. Betting bowl games can be very challenging as you have to factor in motivation, teams getting players back who were injured, teams getting players 100% healthy who were playing hurt towards the end of the season, coaching changes, etc. There’s a lot more that goes into handicapping...
