With both teams in a complete downward spiral, a few things are becoming very apparent. First off, it is fairly obvious that the Arizona Coyotes do not give a crap about getting back on track right now. If you watched the last few Coyotes games, you will notice that games were very loosely played with little regard for defense, as Arizona has allowed 17 goals in their last four games combined. However, the Yotes were able to get a bit of offense going, scoring at least three goals in three of the four games. This is Rick Tocchet’s chance to get some offensive schemes going, and there is no reason this should change against the struggling Blackhawks.

The Chicago Blackhawks are slowly seeing the playoff picture fade away in the midst of a five game losing streak, but many bettors found incredible value in the initial -120 moneyline against the worst team in hockey. The line has moved approximately 20 points in the Blackhawks favor. Chicago has a much higher reason to be self conscious about their awful performances as of late, as they are not only still within striking distance of the playoff bubble contention…but they are also held to much higher standards due to their dynasty status over the past few years. However, after coming off a 3-0 loss in Minnesota, Chicago should no longer be under too much pressure. They should be able to operate more loosely after losing so many games. The Blackhawks have seen four straight OVERs in Arizona, and I have reasons to believe that the bad ice creates for less puck possession and more inside opportunities. I see a run and gun in this one.

OVER 5.5 -110 1*

The Edmonton Oilers are becoming one of the more predictable teams in hockey down the stretch…at least for rebound opportunities.

The Oilers have struggled all season long, but if they have done anything well, it is their ability to consistently show up in some cases when expected. Yes they saw a trifecta of losses in California, but will now have the advantage against a Panthers team that just got derailed out of a four game winning streak and had to travel out to the West. It’s cold in Edmonton, and the contrast of rinks, climate, and setting may be quite the adjustment for the Florida Panthers. I know it is juicy, but I like this one.
