West Coast Bias – Week Six Plays

West Coast Bias – Week Six Plays

YTD: 13-15  LW: 1-3

311 Illinois +18.5 – Illinois HC has named Jeff George Jr. as the starting QB this week, which should allow the Illini to move the ball a bit through the air against a Corn Hawk secondary that is dealing with injuries.  That is the key here, Iowa has played two bruising games in a row against Penn State and Sparty and we look for the Corn Hawks to put us to sleep, play ball control and grind out a win on Saturday as they look toward their rest and bye next week.  We think the Illini will keep this one a little too close for comfort at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday morning.

343 Maryland OVER 58.5 – Our numbers have this game in the mid-60’s and that accounts for the Maryland QB situation.  Ohio State and QB Barrett found their touch last week against an over-matched Rutgers team and we expect that offensive efficiency to carry over this week against a Maryland team that has given up 35 ppg in their FBS match-ups this season.  We expect Maryland to put some points on the board as well, and with a spread sitting at 30 we feel that this game will fly over the total on Saturday in the ‘Shoe.

350 Michigan -10 – A week off for Michigan (great situation at home and off a bye) and news that QB Speight will be out against Sparty – We view this as an upgrade as he at times has held this team back with his mistakes leading the offense.  QB O’Korn looked great coming in relief two weeks ago and the offense will now rely on RB Evans to pound the Spartans into submission.  Expect the Wolverine defense to bottle up the stagnant Sparty offense and QB Lewerke as Sparty hits the road for the first time in 2017 and will get throttled in the Big House on Saturday night.

366 UNLV +11 – This line seems a bit too high as UNLV’s offense is starting to rip off yardage in chunks and scoring points at will – 44 v. Idaho, 21 v. Ohio State and 41 last week v. San Jose State.  SDSU can play some defense, however they give up 130 ypg on the ground – So we see the Rebels having some success against HC Long’s squad.  The Aztecs will counter with all everything RB Penny, but we expect the Rebels to be in the 30’s this week and to keep us under the posted number of 11 on Saturday night in Vegas.

403 Wisconsin OVER 45.5 – This total is too low for a bully Bucky squad who will be looking to come in an exert their will on a ‘Husker team that appears to be a dead team walking.  Yes, the Huskers showed up the last two weeks against Rutgers and Illinois – Who are both terrible.  We’ll see what happens to turnover prone QB Lee when he sees the nasty Badger defense, who we feel should get some scoring chances against Nebraska’s offense.  We expect the Badgers to come in with their efficient ground and pound approach and dismantle the Huskers on Saturday.  Also worth noting that Badger TE Fumagalli could play this week as he was sorely missed last week, with him in the lineup the Badgers are averaging > 41 ppg  – We expect them to get that much and then some on Saturday night in Lincoln.
