March Madness 2017 – Best 1st Round Matchups

March Madness 2017 – Best 1st Round Matchups

The NCAA Tournament has arrived and March Madness is officially here. The best four days in all of sports is amongst us. What a great time to be a sports fan. Betting is done like crazy during this time of year, and BetOnline.ag has you covered this March Madness. Let’s take a look at the bracket by region and give you a few of the best matchups:

The East region sees the top seeded Villanova Wildcats. The Wildcats will have to wait for their first round matchup, as they take on the winner of Mt. St. Mary’s and New Orleans. Their second round game will be interesting, as they battle either Virginia Tech or Wisconsin. Duke seems to be the best option to knocking off the defending champs. They are the 2 seed, and will get a shot at Troy in the first round, and Marquette or South Carolina in the second round.

The best game of the first round could be the Virginia/UNC Wilmington game. This could be the most competitive game. A couple of our favorite bets for round 1 in the East Region include UNC Wilmington +8.5 over Virginia and Duke in a blowout over Troy. Take the Blue Devils -19.

The West Region sees Gonzaga as the top seed, Arizona, Florida State, West Virginia and Notre Dame to follow. The Bulldogs would get Vanderbilt or Northwestern in the second round. At the bottom of the bracket, the Arizona Wildcats would see either St. Mary’s or VCU in the second round.

The sleeper of the West Region is Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are 5th in the region, and will take on Princeton in the first round. They get West Virginia or Bucknell in the second round, then they could meet Gonzaga. A few of the best betting picks for the West Region include Notre Dame -7 over Princeton in the first game of the day, Florida Gulf Coast +12 in an upset over Florida State, and VCU +4.5 over St. Mary’s.

In the Midwest, the Kansas Jayhawks are the top seed. They will also have to wait to see who their first round winner is. They could see three straight Big Ten teams following that to get to the Final Four. Michigan State and Miami await in Round 2, Purdue, Iowa State or  Nevada/Vermont await in round 3, and if the Michigan Wolverines remain hot at the bottom of the bracket, they could meet in the Elite 8.

Along with Michigan, the #2 seed Louisville sits at the bottom of the bracket, along with Oregon. The best bets for round 1 in the Midwest Region include Rhode Island +1.5 over Creighton, and the Michigan Wolverines -2 over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Finally, the South bracket is here. What a loaded bracket. The bracket starts with the North Carolina Tar Heels, and also includes Kentucky and UCLA. Oh, and Wichita State, who has 30 wins is seeded 10th in the bracket. The Tar Heels would get a second round matchup with Arkansas or Seton Hall. It’s hard to imagine a scenario where the Tar Heels are not in the Elite 8.

At the bottom, the Cincinnati Bearcats could await UCLA in the second round, and of course Wichita State or Dayton will challenge Kentucky. The best bets for Round 1 in the South Region include Minnesota -1 over Middle Tennessee State, Winthrop +11 over Butler, and UCLA -18 over Kent State.
