TOP RATED PLAY ON:
WYOMING -4 (buy .5pt at -121 or better)
Utah State is on a 2 games winning streak, while Wyoming is on a 2 game losing streak…However, with the Cowboys having a bye week and a chance to heal up mentally and physically, as well as prep for the Aggies, I like their chances to end their negative streak today…Below are some edges that will assist the Cowboys tonight.
EDGE #1:…Wyoming is one of the better defensive tm’s in the MWC.
Wyoming comes into this game as the 2nd best team in the MWC in scoring, while Utah St is tied for 6th in the conference…But the Aggies has been a good shooting team, where they are ranked 3rd in the conference in FG% shooting, averaging close to 47% from the field…They are also ranked 3rd in 3pt shooting %, hitting over 37% from downtown as well.
That is all good, if this game was being played on their court…This one though, is on the road at Wyoming and the Cowboys are solid on the defensive end at home (see below)…In addition, the Cowboys defense is ranked 15th in the nation in defensive 2pt FG%, allowing just 38.3% shooting from the field…They are also ranked 22nd in the nation in defensive 3pt FG% shooting, allowing just 29.9% shooting from downtown.
Wyoming is also ranked 3rd in the nation in defensive rebounding per game, averaging 31.06 defensive rpg…Plus, the Cowboys rank 77th in the nation in blocks per game…And at home, that block party for the Cowboys goes off averaging 6 blocks per game, while the Aggies only average 2 blocks on the road.
EDGE #2:….Wyoming is the top rebounding team in the MWC.
Both of these teams have some solid scorers who can put the ball in the hole…However, Wyoming will have a huge edge and advantage when they both miss.
For the season, Wyoming have been a solid rebounding team overall…The Cowboys currently are ranked 1st in the MWC in rounding, averaging a strong 40.1 rpg…The Aggies are not very good on the boards and average just 35.9 rpg…However, that average in road games drops to just 32 rebounds pg and just 5 offensive rebounds on the road, as well.
Side Note: The Cowboys are ranked 3rd in the nation in defensive rebounding per game, averaging 31.06 defensive rpg.
Controlling the boards on both ends will definitely give the Cowboys a big edge at home tonight.
EDGE #3:……Wyoming plays solid ball at home.
Being able to play the Aggies at home is a blessing for the Cowboys because they are coming into this game off of two straight losses…At home is also where the Cowboys have found the most success this season…So far, the Cowboys are a solid 10-1 at home where their only loss came against 23rd ranked USC, who they took to OT…In addition, in 3 of the Cowboys last 4 games at home they have won by double-digits…And, in last season’s game at home against Utah St, they destroyed the Aggies by 19 points, winning 84-65.
Wyoming at home is averaging 81.4 ppg, 45.2% shooting from the field, 36.9% shooting from downtown and 72.8% shooting from the line…while they are holding opponents to 68.7 ppg, 36.6% shooting from the field and just 30.3% shooting from downtown.
Utah St, on the other hand, has really struggled on the road where they are just 2-4 SU and 1-4 ATS…They are averaging just 67.2 ppg and a low 32.2 rebounds per game on the road…They are also only averaging just 5 offensive rebounds per game on the road, which is not good vs the Cowboys who are averaging 40 rebs per game at home…The Cowboys also is averaging 11 three pointers made per game at home, compared to the Aggies 7 threes made on the road.
Side Note: In Wyoming’s last 3 games at home vs Utah St, they have gone 3-0 and won by an average of 14+ points.
Side Note: The home team has gone 5-2 ATS in the last 7 games between the two.
Bottom line is even though Utah State is on a 2 game winning streak, they are still a team that has been very inconsistent on the year…Wyoming was fortunate to have a bye week before this one, as it allowed them to heal physically and mentally, as well as give them time to prep for this important game against the Aggies.
Another thing I like, is the fact that in the last game played between these two (MWC tournament), the Aggies spanked the Cowboys by 18 points, winning 88-70…So, I am sure that the Cowboys will be extra motivated tonight to not only stop this 2 game slide, but to also get some payback from that beating as well.
The Cowboys have the better defensive team…the better rebounding team, and they are at home…So with all of that on their side, I definitely believe that the Cowboys will be able to kick some Big-Time Aggie A#@ tonight!…….RIDE EM COWBOYS!
Side Note: Utah St is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs teams with a home winning record greater than .600.
Side Note: Utah St is 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall…And 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs teams with a winning record.
Side Note: Wyoming is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss….And 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.
