TOP RATED PLAY ON:
Kent State -5
Well Gang, today we go back to the MAC for our attack…Last week Tuesday, we sided with the Golden Flashes and hit a solid TOP RATED PLAY selection Winner …Then on Friday, we faded the Golden Flashes and Won another TOP RATED PLAY selection on Ohio.
Today though, I am back once again on the Golden Flashes as I believe they will have 2 Key Edges on their side, that will help them get this much needed win in conference play…Below are those edges.
EDGE #1:….Kent St is the Superior Board Bangers!
Both of these teams are solid at banging the boards, as the Huskies are ranked 25th in the nation, grabbing an average of 40.1 rebound per game…However, today they will be facing the 4th ranked board bangers in the nation, in the Golden Flashes, who average a total of 44 rebounds per game…Furthermore, the Golden Flashes are also the best in the nation, ranking 1st, in offensive rebounding per game, where they average 15.6 offensive rebound pg…And overall, they are ranked 9th in the nation with a 9.5 rebounding margin… while the Huskies have a rebounding margin of 3.6, which is tied for 102nd in the land.
Side Note: Kent St ranks #1 in the nation in offensive rebounding per game…while N ILL is ranked 134th in the nation in defensive rebounding per game.
Kent St’s forward Hall (17.4 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.2 bpg) has been the Golden Flashes best offensive and defensive player the past two seasons, and is the main reason why the Golden Flashes have been competitive in most of their games…He will definitely be a load to handle down low and I am expecting him to have a big double-digit game today.
Because Kent St is solid on the boards overall, it has allowed them additional attempts at the rim, where they are currently ranked 6th in the nation in field goal attempts per game, averaging 66.9…This is approximately 10 more shot attempts then they allow to their opponents…Kent St at home is where their offense has exploded and found their accuracy in all 3 phases of the game, while the Huskies offense on the road has really struggled.
EDGE #2:….Kent St will have the Home Court Advantage.
The Golden Flashes are back at home, where they are a solid 6-1 on the season, averaging a solid 91.4 ppg, 46.0% shooting from the field, 39.5% from downtown, 81.1% from the line and pulling down a whopping 47 rebs pg…All of that, while holding their opponents to just 68 ppg, 38.2% shooting from the field, 33.1% from downtown and just 33 rebounds pg…In addition, on their court, Kent St continues to grab a solid average of 16 offensive rebounds pg, 16 assist and 6 blocks, as well.
As for the Huskies, they have not found to much success on the road going 2-4 so far on the season…Away from home, they are averaging a very low 62.8 ppg, 37.7% shooting from the field, just 27.2% shooting from downtown and a poor 67.6% from the line…On defensive is where the Huskies have fared better, as they are holding their hosts to 65.7 ppg, 42% shooting from the field, just 30.2% shooting from downtown and 64.2% shooting from the line…Still, their offensive weakness in scoring points and shooting accuracy are the main reasons why the Huskies are just 2-4 in road games.
Today’s road game at Kent St will not be an easy one for the Huskies, as the Golden Flashes will not only have one of the conferences most dominant big man down low, in forward Hall, but they also will have an advantage in scoring and ball movement/control, as the Golden Flashes average 16 assist to 14 turnovers, while the Huskies only average 9 assist to their 14 turnovers for a negative assist to turnover margin.
Side Note: Kent St out-boarded two P-5 teams in Oregon St 49-to-39 and Texas 53-to-34…Those two games were both on the road, but this game is at home where the Golden Flashes are out boarding their opponents by a total of 13 rebounds.
One big area that the Huskies have trouble, is in their long range shooting in road games…Currently, the Huskies are averaging just 4 threes made in road games…while the Golden Flashes are averaging a super 10 treys made at home.
Bottom line is N ILL comes in to this game as the hotter team, winning 4 of their last 5 games, as well as being solid on the defensive end…However, the Huskies offense has really struggled putting up points and especially with their accuracy and consistency, on the road this season.
In their last game, they were able to win a close one over Central Michigan, by just 4 points at home, even though they only shot 38.4% from the field and just 20% from downtown…The main reasons why they were able to do that was because they out boarded the Chippewa’s 53-42…But, vs Golden Flashes who are the best in the land on the boards and who have really played solid on the offensive end at home, they will be blowout if their struggles to score and shoot accurately continues in this road game.
Kent St is too good for the Huskies on offense, on the boards and in ball movement/control…Yes, they were blown out in their last game by Ohio…But that one again, was on the road…where they ran into a Bobcat team who was simply the better team overall…In this matchup though, Kent St is the better team overall…They are at home and have a HCA…And, they will have one of the conferences best players taking the court, in forward Hall….Ok, enough said already!…..GO GOLDEN FLASHES, GO!
Side Note: N ILL is 5-11 ATS in their last 16 road games.
Side Note: N ILL is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as an Underdog.
Side Note: Kent St 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games.
Side Note: Kent St is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a home favorite.
